We look for them with a combination of mathematical tests, simulations, data, and deep knowledge of financial markets' behavior. In addition to investment product deconstruction our company uses its expertise to construct investment products. Our knowledge of existing products and their pros and cons allows us to create investment products according to our customers' needs.
The construction of a product can, in general, take two directions. One way is to create a product according to the desired investment profile, insured product, sensitivity to foreign exchange rate changes and profitability vs. risk. Another way is to define investment products by sector. This way we can create unique investment products based on performance of certain geographic region (e.g. Middle East), industrial sector, or commodity.
Hence the first step in creating the product is to determine basic parameters according to customer's wishes. They may reflect many . Next step is to choose appropriate underlying assets and corresponding financial derivatives that are basic building blocks of the product. The construction itself is based on detailed analysis analogous to that used in product deconstruction - financial modeling, analysis of historical data, numerical simulations, and estimation of impacts of crises. This way we make sure that the parameters are as close to the promised values as probability allows.
Due to ethical concerns we issue an explicit disclaimer about a possible conflict of interest when rating and deconstructing our own products. Regardless of our professionalism one cannot consider such reports as independent and without any conflicts of interest. That being said, we strive not to create products that would otherwise obtain low ratings in our deconstruction, i.e. that would be an obvious loss for investors.
